Effect of Pulsed Electromagnetic Field on Growth, Physiology and Postharvest Quality of Kale (Brassica oleracea), Wheat (Triticum durum) and Spinach (Spinacia oleracea) Microgreens

Microgreens’ popularity is increasing worldwide, and many efforts are focused on novel techniques that could increase fresh production without affecting the quality shelf life of young plants. Three species microgreens (kale, durum wheat, spinach) were cultivated in a greenhouse experiment November–December 2020. Pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) was applied at three different growth stages (seed, newly developed plant, before harvest) times exposure each stage, while untreated seeds used as control. According to results, certain PEMF treatments increased weight for all plant species, dry higher treated plants wheat spinach, compared As color parameters L*, a*, b*, harvest postharvest, had no negative effects, either or green retention, during storage.
